Real records for this car, plus our data

Every figure says where it comes from and how old it is: from Tesla's records for this exact car, TeslaTracker data, our estimate, or what you entered.

From Tesla's records for this car

From Tesla's records
  • From Tesla's records

    Latest battery measurement

The car's latest battery measurement from Tesla's records, with the date Tesla recorded it, when Tesla has one. Real data for this exact car, not an estimate.

  • From Tesla's records

    Usable kWh now vs new

How many kWh the pack holds today from Tesla's records, what it held new, and what's been lost.

  • From Tesla's records

    Autopilot computer (HW3 / HW4)

The Autopilot computer as Tesla records it: HW3, marked "upgraded" when Tesla's record shows HW3 on a car built before HW3. Tesla leaves the code blank on HW4 cars, so HW4 is read from that and the build date.

  • From Tesla's records

    FSD on the car

Whether Tesla's record shows FSD on the car, removed since it was sold, or never bought. Ask the seller to show Controls → Software too.

  • From Tesla's records

    Range at 100% today

Calculated from Tesla's reading: what a full charge should show on the car's screen, for its factory wheels.

  • From Tesla's records

The build as sold new, with option prices

Every factory option with Tesla's option prices (not what the first owner paid), Supercharging and connectivity as sold, and the production date and plant.

Plus TeslaTracker's data

  • Compared with similar cars

Where this battery sits among similar cars at the same age and mileage (our estimate, from Tesla's used listings).

  • Listing & price history

Each time we've seen the VIN for sale on Tesla, Carvana, CarMax or a dealer: dates, price steps and mileage, so a stale listing or odd odometer stands out.

  • What Tesla disclosed

Whether Tesla's listing noted a previous accident, an airbag deployment or demo use, with the date.

  • Value today

For the exact trim and mileage, and where an asking price sits against similar cars.

  • Questions for the seller

A checklist written from what the report found, to ask before you pay.

Vehicle history report vs Battery & Build Check

History reports like Carfax and AutoCheck cover accidents, title and owners. This adds what they don't include: the car's latest battery measurement and factory build from Tesla's records.

Use both: a history report for the car's past, this check for its battery and build.

FAQ

Questions about the check

What does the Battery & Build Check show?
From Tesla's records for the car: its latest battery measurement when Tesla has one (battery health and usable kWh now vs new: real data for this exact car, not an estimate), the Autopilot computer as Tesla records it (HW3, and whether it was upgraded; Tesla leaves the code blank on HW4 cars, so the report reads HW4 from that and the build date), whether FSD is on the car, and the factory build with Tesla's option prices, Supercharging and connectivity as sold, and its production date and plant. We add what TeslaTracker knows about the VIN: what Tesla disclosed when it sold it, our listing and price history, value today, warranty, recalls and a checklist of questions for the seller.
How is this different from a Carfax or AutoCheck report?
History reports like Carfax and AutoCheck cover accidents, title and owners. This adds what they don't include: the car's latest battery measurement and factory build from Tesla's records. It doesn't cover title, accident or ownership records, so use a history report too: one for the car's past, this check for its battery and build.
Where does the battery figure come from?
From Tesla's records for that VIN: the car's latest battery measurement, meaning the battery-health percentage and usable capacity Tesla keeps for the car, with the date Tesla last recorded it. It's real data for that exact car, not an estimate from listings or formulas, when Tesla has one. Where we add our own figures, such as how the battery compares with similar cars (measured from the range Tesla showed on its listings), the report labels them "Our estimate". TeslaTracker is not affiliated with or endorsed by Tesla, Inc.
What if Tesla has no battery reading for the car?
Your report still shows the build sheet, the Autopilot computer, FSD and all our data, and we add a free check credit to your account for another car. The same applies if Tesla has no record of the VIN or we can't reach the data source. Credits never expire. Free credits for a missing reading, an unknown VIN or a failed lookup are limited to 2 per account in any 30 days. The $1.99 Build Check is for cars where Tesla rarely has a reading, so a missing reading there doesn't earn a credit.
How much does it cost?
Launch prices: $4.99 for one check, or 3 for $9.99 if you're comparing cars: one is used on the car you're checking and the other two never expire. For cars where Tesla rarely has a battery reading, such as the Cybertruck and older Model S and X, we offer a $1.99 Build Check instead. You pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through Stripe.
Do I need an account?
Only at checkout. You can enter a VIN and see what's included without signing in; to buy, sign in with Google or an email code in one step. Your report is private to your account. Tesla's data in it is kept for 12 months, and you can delete the report at any time.
Can I get a refund?
If your report is wrong or broken, tell us within 14 days and we'll fix it or refund you. A missing battery reading is covered by the free check credit instead.
